In 2023, sales of food rations and home delivery meal kits decreased by 7.6% year-on-year to 14.5 billion rubles. Analysts predict that this segment could grow by the end of 2024, writes Kommersant based on INFOLine data.

The food delivery segment could grow 10% in 2024: study

Until the end of this year, experts expect an increase in turnover in the segment of delivery of food rations and meal kits by at least 10%, up to 16 billion rubles.

According to analysts, growth will be affected by the launch of budget lines and geographical expansion. However, returning to pre-crisis levels will not be so easy: the Russian economy and increasing competition with other prepared food sellers continue to put pressure on companies.

  • The Moscow Department of Transport intends to create a system for registering and accounting for couriers, which will track their working time and movements. Other proposals include consulting with city authorities on plans to open dark stores (places to store and pick up orders) in order to develop transport infrastructure around them.
  • According to the Interregional Association of Courier Services (MAKS), in 2023, about 1.2 million people worked in the courier sector and the deficit was at least 100 thousand people.
