According to Russia’s Federal Customs Service, almost half of Russia’s trade turnover with European countries fell to the country’s three key trading partners in the region: Belarus, Germany and the Netherlands.

The data are confirmed by national statistics from other countries, highlights RIA Novosti, with which the FCS complemented its calculations.
Of Russia’s trade turnover with Europe, which decreased significantly to $163.4 billion in 2023, $55 billion is trade with Belarus ($23.5 billion—Russian exports, $31.4 billion—Belarusian exports).
The aggregate figures for other European countries decreased by 2.8 times. Individually, the states of the region produced the following figures:
- Germany is the leader in trade volume with the Russian Federation (12.2 billion dollars),
- Netherlands ($9.9 billion),
- Italy ($9.4 billion),
- Switzerland ($6.9 billion),
- Hungary, Belgium, Poland, France, Austria (more than five billion dollars),
- Bulgaria ($4 billion),
- Serbia ($2.9 billion),
- United Kingdom ($1.1 billion),
- Croatia, Moldova and Norway ($500 million).
Insignificant trade indicators (less than 300 thousand dollars) are with Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iceland, North Macedonia and Andorra.
