Pavel Durov gave a short interview to the Financial Times, in which he reported that Telegram’s audience has exceeded 900 million people, and the messenger itself will begin to make a profit “next year, if not this year.”

This is all thanks to a paid subscription and the presence of advertising.

Durov also approved the intention to hold an IPO of Telegram. According to him, this is the only development option for the messenger. Durov is not considering selling Telegram, although he received a purchase offer for $30 billion.

The publication’s sources suggest that Telegram will place shares in the United States. Durov did not confirm this, saying that the company “studied several options.” [Financial Times]
