In the latest update to its iPhone guide, Apple highlighted the danger of sleeping next to a powered device. In the safety information section, the company mentions prolonged heat exposure.
Apple urges common sense for users to avoid situations where their skin is in contact with the device for extended periods of time, even if it complies with international safety standards and guidelines. It is worth noting that although it is in decline, cases of mobile phones exploding or catching fire while charging are common.
In addition to discomfort, this can also cause injuries. “Do not sleep on a device, power adapter, or wireless charger, or place the device under a blanket, pillow, or under your body while it is connected to a power source,” Apple’s warning reads.
The company says you should keep your iPhone, adapter and cable, and even wireless chargers in well-ventilated areas while charging. He also underlines that It’s better to avoid SStand on the cable even while awake.
Apple’s update to its safety guide and its recommendation for use in a ventilated area complies with the guidelines of the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel). Safe use recommendations were updated last year.
“Do not charge the device’s battery in closed environments such as bags, suitcases, drawers, boxes, trouser pockets, etc. Charging produces heat, and charging in closed areas prevents heat from spreading to the environment. Overheating of the battery may cause fire or explosion,” the federal agency’s guidelines say.
Anatel also lists other recommendations, such as not using the phone while plugged into the equipment, not using visibly damaged chargers and cables, as well as not plugging in mobile phones in wet areas and avoiding electric shock.
