This feature was included in the operating system by default, but the March update removed support for displaying the system’s charge cycle count and the battery’s production date. It turns out that this function will remain only on the yet-to-be-released Google Pixel 8a smartphone and later models. Moreover, battery statistics previously worked on existing Pixel models.

With these statements on its blog, Google confirmed that the model was published, perhaps to avoid misunderstandings among users. Presumably, Pixel 8a will be released at the Google I/O 2024 conference in May.

“We only enable this page on Pixel 8a and later, so it works as intended,” Google said in a blog post.
