Some research suggests that weighted blankets may be beneficial for people with anxiety, autism, or ADHD. However, most of these scientific studies did not interest many people. More research is still needed to understand how these blankets benefit different populations.

But here’s what scientists already know about the health benefits of weighted blankets.

stress reduction. The pressure that weighted blankets put on the body can increase serotonin levels. This hormone will improve your mood and calm you down. This pressure also reduces levels of cortisol, the stress hormone.

Improving sleep quality. This is due to a decrease in cortisol levels and an increase in melatonin (sleep hormone) levels.

Reducing chronic pain. A study of 94 adults with chronic pain found that weighted blankets reduced the perception of chronic pain. The effect was stronger in blankets weighing about 7 kg.

Improvement in some diseases. A number of studies show that weighted blankets may benefit people with anxiety, sleep disorders, autism spectrum disorder, and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder.
