It turns out that the cough that many consider a “calling card” is not always a sign of this. 83 percent of tuberculosis patients do not cough!
Analysis of data from 600,000 people in Africa and Asia found that 83% of TB patients had no cough lasting more than 2 weeks, while 40% had no cough at all!
What does this mean? Subclinical tuberculosis, which occurs without cough, is difficult to diagnose. People who are unaware of their disease can transmit the disease to others.
So how can tuberculosis be recognized in this case? New diagnostic methods that do not rely solely on cough are needed. X-rays and sputum tests can be helpful, but they are not always accurate.
There is a need to raise awareness about tuberculosis and its “hidden” symptoms. Diagnosis and treatment methods also need to be improved.
Let us state that this study is a real breakthrough in the fight against tuberculosis! Maybe this is what will push the scientific community to make new discoveries.
