Low demand forced Sony to stop production of the PlayStation VR2 headset. Instead of the expected 2 million sales in the first month, Sony managed to sell only 270 thousand headphones. Until interest in the device recovers, the company will not resume assembly.

Sony was forced to stop production of the PlayStation VR2 virtual reality headset due to low demand. Corporate sources told Bloomberg about this.
In the first month after the launch, Sony planned to sell 2 million headphones, but it was a failure: the company sold only 270 thousand devices.
Experts attribute the headphones’ initial sales failure to their high price. PlayStation VR2 costs $549 and requires a PS5, which costs $499, to run.
Now Sony has many virtual reality headsets in its warehouses and the company has no plans to resume assembly.
