According to the court file, the request was sent on March 22, details were not revealed on the portal.

OMV is a long-time partner of Gazprom and the German Wintershall Dea in the Severneftegazprom project (a company developing the Yuzhno-Russkoye field in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug). The corporation has been importing Russian gas for many years.

But by decree of December 2023, President Vladimir Putin ordered the sale of OMV and Wintershall Dea shares in joint ventures, which the Austrians considered an “expropriation.”

As part of protecting the company’s rights, the head of the Austrian Energy Ministry, Leonor Gewessler, announced in February this year plans to end all contractual relations between Gazprom and OMV.
