This applies to the RTX 5090 (GB202), RTX 5080 (GB203), and RTX 5070 (GB204), the successors of the RTX 4070 – 4090 models.
The remaining models, including the RTX 5060 Ti and below, will make do with GDDR6 or GDDR6X.
GDDR7 will provide flagship performance levels to the RTX 50XX. The memory runs at 28 Gbit/s, which is almost three times faster than the GDDR6X used in the RTX 40 (chips up to 40 Gbit/s are available!).
The new GPUs will be produced with TSMC’s 4 nm process, which promises even more power and energy efficiency.
What does this mean for us?
- RTX 50XX will be a performance monster.
- RTX 5070 will become more affordable than RTX 4080.
- GDDR7 will be the new standard for high-end video cards.
