Scientists from Siberian Federal University (SFU) have developed a new method for extracting gallium, a precious metal. They began to use aluminum waste for this purpose, the press service of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science reported.

Gallium is a metal essential in the construction of various devices, including thermometers, and is used in electronics and communications. It is an important raw material that is difficult to obtain due to its rarity in nature.

Scientists from the Siberian Federal University have developed a method that allows the extraction of gallium from aluminum waste. This not only helps remove the metal, but also reduces the amount of waste from aluminum production, making the process more environmentally friendly.
