The update appeared on the company’s website in the user support section on March 27. The reasons for this decision are not specified.

Samsung’s announcement also notes that “the functionality for adding and using club/loyalty cards in the Samsung Pay app will continue to work unchanged.”

Previously, it was possible to add Mir cards from 73 partners and banks to Samsung Pay on smartphones, including Sber, Tinkoff, Alfa-Bank, Delobank, VTB, Gazprombank, Tochka, Yandex Bank and others.

After the start of the Russian special operation in Ukraine, Samsung and Apple stopped supplying phones to Russia. In March 2023, private craftsmen and small service centers began offering services for changing the region code built into a Samsung phone, which made it possible to enable Samsung Pay on devices not intended for Russia.
