Almost all cars today have air conditioning. It works with the help of a special gas – a cooler. And the composition of the air conditioning system includes many interconnected components. Most often, the air conditioner fails in the summer, because at this time of the year drivers often stand in traffic jams for a long time and turn it on at full power due to the heat.
Here are five reasons why your air conditioner is only blowing hot air.
-
lack of coolant. Freon is used as this substance. It is produced by different companies, so the composition may vary. If the freon level is minimal, this means that the entire system may overheat. It is recommended to check the level of this substance and replenish its stocks at least once a year. For this, it is best to contact the experts.
-
Insufficient condenser cooling. Thanks to the condenser, the temperature inside the car is kept within normal limits. Insufficient cooling of this component can be caused by a problem with the fan or contamination of the condenser itself. The first can be detected if the fan turns on when the compressor is running at initial speed (in case of failure, it simply will not start). The latter is solved by cleaning the capacitor.
-
Defective compressor. This component, fortunately, rarely breaks. If you find that it is still faulty, it is better to replace it with a new one. In addition, there are problems with the A/C compressor clutch. To replace it, the best solution would be to contact the service.
-
wiring problem. The most common problems are wire damage, corrosion and contamination of contacts, faulty switches, etc. Pressure sensors can also fail.
-
shutter problem. You cannot detect this right away, because it all depends on which side the damper is stuck on. If your vehicle is equipped with an electronic air conditioning system, the diagnostic process will be much easier. But with a mechanical air conditioner, you will have to remove the front panel and look for a damper stuck there.
