According to a Deadline report, a restored version of Titanic will return to international cinemas to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the feature film’s release. It will be a 3D and 4K version. The award ceremony will take place from February 10, in time for Valentine’s Day.
While Paramount takes care of the distribution of the restored version of Titanic in the United States, Disney comes outside the US borders. It appears that an excerpt from this version was shown by producer Jon Landau during CineEurope.
Titanic is one of the highest-grossing movies of all time, given that we’re talking about a $2.2 billion feature film, which remained in the top spot among the highest-grossing films of all time for over a decade, only supplanted by Avatar. in 2009, which in turn was later surpassed by Avengers: Endgame.
Recall that Titanic was the movie that definitively launched both Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet. Even at the 1998 Oscars, Titanic was a resounding success thanks to 11 wins, including Best Picture.
Meanwhile, James Cameron is also preparing to hit theaters in December 2022 with Avatar 2.
