On April 1, Russia launched a system to block expired products at checkouts. It will affect tobacco and draft beer first. RIA Novosti writes about this with reference to CRPT Deputy General Director Revaz Yusupov.

The mechanism will be gradually implemented in 13 product groups: labeled tobacco, beer, dairy products, water, antiseptics, dietary supplements, shoes, cameras, tires, clothing, perfumes, soft drinks and medical products. The software developers also reported that their solution is ready to use.

According to Yusupov, this mechanism is a new control tool in the context of a moratorium on inspections by the state. He believes that deviations in working with the system are a reason for Rospotrebnadzor to pay attention to this seller and, if violations are identified, apply sanctions.

At the end of March, the Ministry of Finance delayed mandatory jewelry labeling for one year. The procedure was to begin on September 1, 2024, but the deadline was postponed to September 2025. The postponement will reduce the administrative burden on market participants.
