Instagram is preparing a new type of Reels feed that will combine users’ interests with the interests of their friends. The functionality, currently known as “Mix” (“Mix” in Portuguese), will be based on content shared with a contact in direct messages.
The function was discovered and shared on X (formerly Twitter) by Alessandro Paluzzi, the whistleblower responsible for many leaks from social media applications. In the broadcast, the source shared the promotional screenshot explaining how the tool will work.
“Invitation to the ‘Mix.’ Reels recommendations are based on the videos you share with each other and your other interests,” the platform explains.
According to the statement, the new feature is very similar to Spotify’s “Blend” feature, which creates a personalized playlist based on the duo’s musical interests.

Personalized broadcasting is private between the user and the recipient, and anyone involved can opt out at any time. Other details about the function, such as the number of posts in the feed and the frequency of updates, have not yet been revealed.
Special Reel Feed
Instagram’s new “Blend” is perfect for expanding the platform’s discovery potential with your friend who frequently shares Reels. The tool also supports creators in a specific niche, increasing the chances of reaching the right audience.
Currently, the function is a prototype for internal use only. Then, Blend’s release is not guaranteed, and if feedback is negative, the feature may never reach more people.
