The other day, at the end of March, Jim Ryan resigned as PlayStation CEO. He announced his resignation in September 2023, explaining that it had become difficult for him to combine life in Europe with work in North America.

“I have had the joy of working in a job I love, at a special company, with great people and incredible partners,” Ryan said. “But I found it increasingly difficult to combine living in Europe with working in North America.”

Ryan held numerous leadership positions during his tenure at Sony, including Vice President and COO. He has served as CEO of PlayStation since 2019, succeeding John (Tsuyoshi) Kodera.

Hiroki Totoki, currently Sony President, COO and CFO, will (temporarily) serve as PlayStation CEO. There’s no word yet on when Sony plans to appoint a new permanent PlayStation CEO.
