Tesla sales decreased from 422.8 thousand electric vehicles in the first quarter of 2023 to 386.8 thousand in the first quarter of 2024; This is the first decline in Tesla’s quarterly sales since 2020. Amid the company’s reporting, its shares on the Nasdaq fell 5%.

Despite falling sales, Tesla has become the world’s largest seller of electric vehicles, ahead of China’s BYD, which sold 300,000 cars in the first three months of 2024.
