Russian Post will soon announce a tender to test IT systems as part of a three-year Bug Bounty program. It is planned to test systems that are important for the operator’s work.

The company assumes that there will be one platform provider to which all participants in the information security market can attract, Dmitry Ilyin, deputy general director of IT and development of digital services at the company, told Kommersant.

The results will become a criterion for clarifying security and developing additional measures. Ilyin did not disclose the amount of remuneration.

Cybersecurity experts consider the idea relevant, but emphasize that its implementation will require clearly defining regulations and rules to avoid “disagreements with white hat hackers.”

  • In July 2022, a data breach of the postal operator’s customers was reported. The company then confirmed the leak, but assured that nothing threatened the security and reputation of customers.
  • In early 2023, a new fragment of the Russian Post database was leaked online. The Russian Post itself then explained that there were no new leaks and that it was data from the old database.
