If you’ve noticed that your Galaxy S23 has slowed down after updating to One UI 6.1, rest easy: you’re not alone. Lately, A significant number of users complained on Reddit about the slowness in registering screen touches.

According to reports, the update, in addition to being slow, also caused the screen to become unresponsive to any touch on the screen with your fingers and only allowed interaction via the S Pen. The issue seems to occur more frequently on devices whose screens have been replaced for repair.

“I just updated my Galaxy S23 Ultra to One UI 6.1. But after installing the update, my screen completely stopped responding to finger touches and only works when using the S Pen,” said one user on Reddit.

“I restarted the phone several times but had no luck fixing this issue. I looked online and realized others were facing the same issue and no one could find a solution,” he continued.

What causes the error on Galaxy S23?

According to Samsung, Google Discover is the culprit of the Galaxy S23 touch screen problem. The company stated on its official support forum that there were “compatibility issues” with some features of the Google app, without providing further details about the flaw.

Google is currently preparing a solution but there is no estimate for its launch. But there is a workaround: delete data from the Google application, update the program to the latest version and reboot the phone.

Another problem with One UI 6.1

This is not the first problem with One UI 6.1: Also in April, many Galaxy S23 users noticed that the update slowed down the charging of the mobile phone and limited the power of the charger to 15 W.

Additionally, the new system would also cause a slight increase in temperature during daily use of some mobile phones.

It’s unclear what’s causing the problem in these cases, but it’s definitely something Samsung needs to keep an eye on.
