The first driverless trams will be launched in Moscow this summer, the capital’s mayor’s office reported. In the first stage of the “assault”, the driver will be present in the cabin.

In the summer of 2024, the first unmanned trams will be put into service in Moscow. This was announced by the deputy mayor of Moscow, Maxim Liksutov, as reported by Interfax.
According to the official, the tram has already learned to travel to the depot. When launched on Moscow roads, at the first stage a driver will be present in the cabin.
In March, tests of an unmanned tram were carried out at the capital’s depot. At the same time, plans were announced to launch a project to transfer all trams, electric buses and metro trains to unmanned control by 2030.
The start of testing of the first unmanned tram in Moscow was first known in 2019.
