Like many countries of the Middle East, the UAE depends on the purification of salt, which is much more expensive than the cloud sowing method. According to the UAE National Meteorological Center Director Abdullah Al-Mandus, the salt purification is 25 times more than the cloud planting. With the help of new technologies, the effectiveness of cloud planting, which now uses salt missiles, may increase three times. In the future, it is assumed that rainfall can be increased nine times using electrical impulses.
Currently, NCM tests both technologies and if the results are successful, it can be applied in the country. However, the modernization of the infrastructure will be required to collect increasing rainfall. The UAE is already developing a plan to improve the possible construction of existing dams and reservoirs and new facilities.
In addition, the country notes the problems related to infrastructure to manage excessive rainfall. This, especially strong rains in Dubai last year after causing floods became apparent.
It should also be noted that the use of salt particles and missiles connected to pollutant aircraft is concerned about the environmental impact. The National Meteorology Center regularly analyzes the soil for salts formed as a result of cloud planting to monitor the possible damage to the ecosystem.
