In his speech, Musk said it would take SpaceX about 20 years to explore Mars. During this time, according to the businessman, about 1 million people can be brought to the planet, and this will be enough to create a colonial city.

The businessman believes that spaceships should be sent to Mars every two years. With such regularity, colonizers will receive a stable supply of resources, as well as the opportunity to return to Earth if they wish.

At the same time, according to Musk, most of the newly formed Martians will not yet be able to return to their home planet.

The basis for Mars exploration will be the giant reusable Starship 3 rocket, equipped with a new generation Raptor engine, with which the spacecraft can carry up to 200 tons of cargo on board.

The director of SpaceX did not specify when Starship 3 will be put into operation. However, the businessman assures that launching a giant spacecraft will cost several times less than operating the Falcon 1 rocket, the price of which is around $10 million.

According to the billionaire, due to the possibility of reusing the entire system, a Starship 3 launch in the future will cost between 2 and 3 million dollars.

“These are unimaginable numbers. No one ever thought this was possible. However, to achieve this goal we will not have to violate the laws of physics,” Musk said.
