Photos posted online show burnt areas on the graphics card cases where the backlit RAM is adjacent.

The cause of this phenomenon has not yet been determined. Perhaps the culprit is the heat generated by the backlight or the ultraviolet radiation that damages the paint.

Since RGB memory has been on the market for many years, it is surprising that a similar problem has not arisen before.

Is it worth giving up RGB lighting? Everyone must make this decision for themselves. But now you are aware of the potential danger.

If you still decide to continue using RGB memory:

  • Set the maximum allowed backlight temperature.
  • Ensure the enclosure is well ventilated.
  • Periodically check the video card for damage.
