Whiting noted that in order for the United States to be a leader in this field, it should direct some of its national resources, especially to the development of space forces. And speaking of “decades,” the military calls for development of effective space forces to begin now.
However, the general emphasized that the United States would not want a global escalation of the war at a level and intensity that would be carried into space.
“Let me be very clear: We at Space Command do not want war to break out or escalate to the space level,” Whiting said.
