The Amazon Prime Video streaming service released the first season of the Fallout series.

It is created based on the cult series of games of the same name with the participation of game designer Todd Howard. Foreign critics and early viewers were satisfied with the film adaptations.

On the Rotten Tomatoes website, the project has a lower rating of “freshness”:

By comparison, HBO’s The Last of Us still has scores of 96% from critics and 89% from viewers. Both projects will still compete for the title of best.

We have already watched the new product and will hasten to share our impressions. Spoiler: this is definitely a must see.

War never changes

What is the series about?: the authors offer to watch three stories at once – a 33-year-old Vault resident, one ghoul cowboy and a Brotherhood of Steel soldier.

They all intersect and create a common surface. Before the post of our apocalyptic America 200 years after the nuclear war. The wasteland became mostly about action, just like in the games.

The event takes place after a nuclear war in a post-apocalyptic America, which has turned into a radioactive desert and is engulfed in anarchy. Some people managed to hide in bomb shelters, while others were unlucky and remained on the surface.

The entire project follows the Fallout universe, including not only games, but also comics and fan fiction. Everything is united into one universe and skillfully intertwined, while still respecting a certain canon from the game series.

The image of Todd Howard is visible to the naked eye. There is simply tremendous attention to detail here, and special respect goes to Jonathan Nolan for this. You get into the atmosphere literally from the first frames, from the first settings, but here everything works to ensure that gamers are not just happy, but inspired by the project.

Already on the opening scene of the first episode we are instantly thrown into retrofuturism with matching soundtracks that every fan notices. By the way, even apart from the fan base, these works sound great and convey the right mood.

In just one hour, already in the first episode, we have qualitatively conquered two eras – before and after the nuclear war between the United States and China. People have changed, but the problems remain the same.

All main storylines are constructed with high quality. The viewer is almost immediately thrown into the thick of things and literally given commands, just like in a game. At first it seems that the story is being told too quickly, but then it smoothly slows down and calipers him in the next episodes.

This series will appeal to fans and ordinary people alike.

Already in the first episode we get acquainted with all the characters and provide them with a clear background. The main focus is on Lucy, a resident of the Vault for 33 years, but other characters are not forgotten.

Speaking of Lucy: gamers who have completed Fallout, starting with part 3, have already the plot is known in advance. Here they did not reinvent the wheel and took a proven scheme. On the one hand, this is good – everything is painfully familiar. On the other hand, the history of development is too obvious. Nevertheless, she is extremely interesting to watch.

It’s the characters and storytelling that really shine through to make the show that much more compelling than the games. Each main character’s development is interesting to watch, and each of them experiences a wide range of emotions.

The project is simply oversaturated black humor in the style of the original games. Here they do not hesitate to joke about all the events and characters. There is something to question here: they also tried to transfer puzzles from the game series into the series.

And yes, this series is definitely “18+”. Literally every episode a large amount of blood and entrails flies. And this is entirely consistent with the games, as players enjoyed their ultra-violence through the VATS system

So, in the second episode there is a powerful confrontation, the fight turns into a brutal shootout, and the stunning cinematography makes the soul rejoice in every splash of blood. There were also severed limbs, body deformations due to radiation, and so on. Overall, a delight. The workmanship is incredible.

Be sure to check it out if you still have any doubts.

“Fallout” is one of the rare examples when the authors lovingly approached the source material. This is the case when the project will appeal not only to fans, but also to everyone who loves the genre of the genre.

This series will keep you hooked until the very end, despite some minor issues. 8/10.
