The Chinese company Haier is looking for developers in Russia to develop its own operating system for smart home appliances. Now the company’s TVs run on the Android TV system powered by Google, Kommersant writes.

According to the publication’s interlocutors, the company fears that Google will block the use of its products in Russia. Our own platform for Smart TV allows us to better monetize the devices; Yandex and SberDevices have such developments.
At the same time, some market participants doubt that Haier wants to launch the system only for the Russian market. In his opinion, the Russian team will adapt larger-scale development.
In 2023, Haier displaced Samsung from its leading position in the Russian TV market. After nine months, Haier occupied 11.5% of the Russian television market in units (665,000) and 15.3% in money (22.1 billion rubles), while a year ago the share of the company was 7.4%.
