I bought the flagship Leatherman ARC multitool for 45,000 rubles. Why is it interesting and is it worth the money?

Probably one of the best purchases of my life was made 10 years ago, no less. Of course, I’m exaggerating, but I really don’t have a single thing that has lasted with me for such a long time.

We’re talking about the Victorinox Huntsman Swiss knife – I always take it with me wherever I go (I wrote about it here). It can be hidden in your hand, and all the tools in it are made of the highest quality. And for such a high level it is very inexpensive.

A couple of months ago I decided to go further and buy myself something even more functional from the Leatherman range. I think it will serve me no less than the Victorinox.

I want to take not just another Swiss army knife, but a real multi-tool that will help complete all other tasks. I settled on the flagship ARC, which was launched not so long ago.

I’m glad that I decided to buy something like that, as when the most successful solution for me and everything else came out.

Now I almost always have this multitool with me. With its help I perform, let’s say, average household tasks. Victorinox Huntsman left it for visitors and kitchen needs, as well as picnics and all this.

Which Leatherman ARC tool do I use most often?

These are my only pliers at the moment, but I have already used them almost everywhere.

Lately I’ve been leading the lifestyle of give or take two nomads, so I can’t carry a suitcase with other wooden tools with me. Plus, for some really serious tasks, I most often still turn to professionals for help.

Leatherman ARK – the only pliers I have, and they are of very high quality. This is a very convenient screwdriver that you almost always have with you.

In the multitool, a cool saw, which had already passed the test with plastic floor tiles for the balcony – with a file when installing them, also did a good job.

The scissors are also very powerful and convenient; I use them to solve anything and everything when I don’t have a large size on hand. They are designed for rougher use than the “manicure” ones that use Victorinox.

Certainly, knife with MagnaCut steel blade with special attention. It is very effective and, like almost all other tools, it locks open and convenient for difficult tasks.

For a couple of months I just haven’t used it for this – since, in theory, it’s practically indestructible, I trust it absolutely with everything. It has never failed and remains very clear – almost like a blade.

The blade in this knife not only looks quite interesting, but also comes close to the useful features it has.

MagnaCut steel has been on the market relatively recently, but has already gained trends among EDC enthusiasts.

It’s difficult to say which tool sounds best here, but it’s definitely not just knives or even pliers with wooden chips.

By and large, both the Victorinox Huntsman and the Leatherman Arc, which are shown in the photo above, can be called both Swiss knives and multitools.

But specifically for myself, I made a plus or minus understandable difference.

There are different Victorinox models that try to seem like multitools, but they are too much inferior to their competitors in complex tasks. The situation is similar with Leatherman – the company has good compact knives, but they don’t, and in half the line there are things that are often needed almost every day.

I have a place for the Leatherman ARC, along with a set of bits, but without an additional case, in the outer pocket of a small city backpack, which I almost always have with me.

The only thing that confuses me is the very high cost, but taking into account the reserve of relevance for years, it is completely justified.
