Generative AI is starting to make its way into the world of video, but some new features in Premiere Pro take things to the next level. Adobe announced a series of generative AI video tools that it will introduce in its video editing suite Premiere Pro all year round and they look pretty amazing.
The brand is working to expand its own artificial intelligence model. Adobe Fireflywhich started out as a text-to-image generator last March and has quickly expanded its brand of artificial intelligence to various editing environments.
Now Adobe is diversifying the video generation functionality in the model. While the technology is still in development, Adobe is partnering with companies that respect third-party generative AI models, including OpenAI, Runway, and Pika, to infuse Premiere Pro with the best AI-powered video editing features.
Video editing features are designed for a professional-grade video creation and production workflow and will join Adobe’s existing Firefly family of models, including images, vectors, layouts, and text effects. Some of the new AI video editing features coming to Adobe Premiere Pro include:
- Generative extension– Allows editors to add frames to a clip to make it longer. This is useful for timing and transitions.
- Adding and removing objects– Allows editors to easily select, remove or replace objects in a frame, including changing an actor’s clothing style.
- Text in video– Allows editors to use a text query to create media for Premiere Pro, which can include storyboards, stock footage, or live action footage.
In addition to specific features, Adobe also allows editors to choose which third-party models work best for their footage in Premiere Pro. The brand also plans to include content credentials that will flag media files as being created by artificial intelligence, and they will indicate which ones. The model was used to create content.
“Adobe is reinventing every step of the video creation and production workflow to give creators new power and flexibility to bring their vision to life,” Ashley Still, senior vice president of Adobe Creative Products Group, said in a statement.
“By incorporating generative AI innovation into Premiere Pro’s core workflows, we’re solving real-world problems video editors face every day, while giving them more ability to focus on their craft,” he added.
