In early May, RR Auction auctioned off a rather unusual lot. In which the company tried to raise quite a large amount, namely $400,000 for materials for one of NASA’s experiments.
The main goal of NASA’s ongoing experiment was to identify any negative impacts on terrestrial organisms from real moondust. As subjects, cockroaches were chosen, which, for a certain time, the scientists fed with real moon dust, and then examined under a microscope. However, the experiment was unsuccessful and the moondust did no harm to his body. But the scientists did not stop there, and hoping to find at least something, it was decided to transfer the subjects to entomologist Marion Brooks, but she still failed to identify anything negative.
So the lot they tried to sell for $400,000 included: dead roaches, remains of a drug kit taken from the subjects’ stomachs, glass scraps, and more. The lot was withdrawn from auction because NASA categorically prohibited the sale of these materials, and RR Auction had to agree to their requirements, as all the materials officially did not belong to them.
