Magnit has created an artificial intelligence (AI) laboratory, AI.Lab: this division will develop and implement technologies based on generative AI, the retailer said in a statement.

The laboratory’s specialists will create solutions in the field of intelligent search and content generation, computer vision, develop virtual assistants for staff, as well as hyper-personalized solutions for communication with customers.
The company hopes that the introduction of such technologies will improve the level of customer service and efficiency of the company.
For example, Magnit plans to use computer vision technology to monitor the use of carts and baskets on the sales floor (determine their optimal quantity and monitor their availability).
Intelligent search technology based on NLP methods and text models will improve the functionality of the mobile delivery application, increase the number of users and the conversion rate.
Among the solutions already implemented is the use of generative AI to create images on the Gastronom.ru portal (this is Magnit’s media platform, which contains recipes and articles about food products).
