“Today, the review of documents, depending on the consulate, takes from 2 to 6 weeks, but individually the period can be extended to 60 days,” says the PCT material.

The reason is the growing demand for trips to Europe and, at the same time, the lack of possibilities to expand the processing of documents in the consulates of the Schengen countries.

It is reported that there is a “large pent-up demand” for the submission of documents at visa centers in France, and that there are difficulties with registration at visa centers in Italy and Spain.

Demand for travel and holidays to Europe is growing by 40% to 45% compared to the same period last year.

It was previously known that demand for visas for the Schengen area in spring 2024 had increased by 20% compared to last year. Queues have appeared again at the consulates: registration is now available for the end of May/June/July.
