It is thought that hackers from China may be behind the attacks. The Chinese Embassy rejects these accusations.

As is known, hackers operated from 2010 to 2015, stealing up to 19 thousand files containing various technical data from Volkswagen. The concern itself confirmed the fact of the hack, but did not disclose the details.

According to German media, hackers were primarily interested in areas such as “gasoline engine development”, “transmission development” and “dual clutch transmission”.

The attacks took place in several stages: First, in 2010, attackers began to analyze the infrastructure of the concern, a year later they managed to hack the security, and then gradually stole data over 4 years.

The Chinese Embassy in Germany categorically denied these accusations and declared that it condemned all forms of cyber espionage.
