The American company Throwflame has launched sales of the Thermator, the world’s first robot with an additional flamethrower.

The robot can be controlled remotely from a smartphone. The dog’s head has a camera for transmitting first-person video and a lidar for building maps of the area.

A flamethrower with a laser sight and a range of up to 9 meters is installed on top. For it to work, you will need to pour gasoline into the built-in tank.

Throwflame believes the robotic dog could be used in agriculture, forest fire prevention, snow and ice removal, and as special effects entertainment.

The Termonator can be used legally in the lower 48 states of the United States because the flamethrower is not regulated in any way. Only Maryland requires a license, and in the state the flamethrower’s range must not exceed three meters.

A robot dog with a flamethrower costs $9,420 or 879 thousand rubles. [Ars Technica]
