Following the announcement, the company’s shares rose more than 10 percent in early trading on the Stockholm stock exchange. The new structure includes Middle-earth Enterprises & Friends, which will manage the group’s most famous and largest game studios, such as Crystal Dynamics, Dambuster Studio and Eidos-Montreal. It will manage the intellectual property rights of the “Lord of the Rings” and “Tomb Raider” games.
Asmodee Group will house Embracer’s desktop business, while Coffee Stain & Friends will focus on free-to-play games for PC, consoles and mobile devices, as well as small and medium-sized studios and productions. Asmodee and Coffee Stain & Friends shares will be distributed as dividends to Embracer shareholders.
The group currently owns or controls more than 12,000 employees in 40 countries.
