The study, published in the journal Science Direct, suggests that a simple change in user mindset could alleviate some of the common problems associated with electric vehicle ownership. Based on their observations, the researchers concluded that electric vehicle owners do not need to constantly worry about battery levels or carefully plan their routes. They also concluded that there is no need to buy a more expensive car with a larger battery, because it is more profitable to get into the habit of charging the car more often at home or at work.

Three main types of electric vehicle users were identified in the study:

  • Some users constantly monitor their battery levels and often worry about running out of charge.

  • Others plan their trips carefully to avoid situations where they could be stranded by a dead battery.

  • Others have developed the habit of charging their cars as soon as they arrive home or at work.
