We have already encountered a massive problem when logging into Apple ID. Users receive mass notifications asking them to reset their account passwords; some accounts are temporarily blocked.
It is unclear whether this is a massive planned attack or a glitch on Apple’s side. I have collected some tips and recommendations for this case on how to avoid problems and not lose your Apple ID.

1. Add a trusted contact
Why do you need: This will come in handy if your Apple ID is blocked. If you have previously set up a trusted contact, if your Apple ID is blocked, you can restore it by receiving a confirmation code to the trusted person’s account.
Non-payers do not contact support, always answer questions and wait until an employee manually unlocks the account.
How to setup: participation in Settings – Apple ID Account – Password & Security – Account Recovery.
In chapter Recovery assistance click the button Add contact and select the user from your contacts list. It has a menu item in the same section Account recoverythrough which you can request a confirmation code if your Apple ID is blocked.
Don’t worry, your trusted contact will not have access to your data, you will not be able to see confidential information or change the password yourself. You can add up to 5 verified contacts.

2. Create an Apple ID recovery key.
Why do you need: This is another way to protect your Apple ID, which is suitable if you don’t have friends and family as a trusted contact.
In this case, a special 28-digit code will be created to restore your Apple ID. You will have to monitor its safety yourself; if the code falls into the wrong hands or ends up on a locked iPhone, the support staff will save the account.
How to setup: participation in Settings – Apple ID Account – Password & Security – Account Recoveryclick the button Recovery key and activate this option.
Save the code you receive securely and remember where it is stored. Better yet, leave yourself some kind of reminder.

3. Change your Apple ID.
Why do you need: The mailbox address is used as the Apple ID login. If you are already receiving password reset messages, it means that the attackers will be sent a letter to which the Apple ID will be applied (we assume that the problem is not on Apple’s side, but that everything is happening – a massive attack).
In this case, you can replace the email along with it and your Apple ID. Make it easy, after a while return the old mailbox.
How to setup: Login to the Apple ID account management site and sign in to your account.
In chapter Login to your account and security select item Apple ID and press the button Change Apple ID. You will need to enter a new address and enter its code that will come in the letter.

4. Change your phone’s Apple ID appeal number.
Why do you need: If you receive messages with an offer, reset your password, there may be a problem with the legislative phone number. It is either known to the attackers or is on the list of stolen confidential data.
As with email, you can try replacing your old recommended phone number with a new one for your Apple ID.
How to setup: Turn on the Apple ID account management site and sign in to your account.
In chapter Email and phone numbers you need to add a new verified number. Use only your own numbers that are purchased in your passport.
When a new number is added, you can delete the old one by first disconnecting from it. FaceTime And iMessage.

5. Ignore messages about password resets and calls from unknown numbers.
If you don’t want to change your Apple ID and phone number, and you’ve already been prompted to reset your password, simply delete them. Do not confirm this action or attempt to change the password manually. Most likely, this will lead to account blocking.
This also applies to phone calls from unknown numbers. Attackers could lead Apple employees and try to find out some confidential information.
