Microsoft recently confirmed that Windows 11’s April 2024 security patch cuts VPN connections. On an official support page, The company claims that users may experience connection issues after installing the update.
Fortunately, Microsoft is aware of the problem and is already preparing a solution. “We are investigating user reports and will provide more information in the coming days,” the company said in a statement.
HE The update doesn’t just affect Windows 11. Windows 10 and Windows Server 2008 (or newer) are also affected. Below, review all systems experiencing the error:
- Customer systems: Windows 11 22H2, 23H2 (KB5036893); Windows 11 21H2 (KB5036894); and Windows 10 (KB5036892);
- Server systems: Windows Server 2022 (KB5036909); Windows Server 2019 (KB5036896); Windows Server 2016 (KB5036899); Windows Server 2012 R2 (KB5036960); Windows Server 2012 (KB5036969); Windows Server 2008 R2 (KB5036967); Windows Server 2008 (KB5036932).
Up to the present, Microsoft did not disclose details about the problem or its source. However, the company recommends that users access the system-specific “Get Help” tool to search for alternative solutions.
For businesses, Microsoft recommends that consumers contact us through the “Business Support” portal. This target audience needs to be treated differently because their operations are more sensitive and urgent.
There are currently no workarounds for affected systems until Microsoft provides a fix. One way to try to get rid of the problem would be to uninstall the security patch or temporarily disable the VPN address.
