Google Play has started tagging government apps. More than 3 thousand applications have already been marked with a special sign. With the new option, users will be able to choose content that is safe to download, according to Google.

The Google Play store now displays labels for official government apps. 9to5google writes about this.

Below the description of the marked applications there is a “Government” mark. Applications from the space agency NASA and the federal emergency management agency FEMA have this label. So far more than 3 thousand applications have been marked.

The app tagging feature is being tested in several countries. It operates in the US, India, Canada, Germany, Japan and other countries. Google is working with the authorities of these countries to compile a list of official applications.
