When trying to access the website, the browser displays the message “Not Found” (“Not Found” in Portuguese) instead of the classic “Error 404”, which is often used to indicate non-existent pages.
OpenAI’s own search engine
ChatGPT is an artificially intelligent chatbot that can answer almost any question and is often even used as a personal search engine, although it is subject to hallucinations. Strategically, it would make sense for OpenAI to launch a tool like a public-facing search engine because OpenAI already recognizes the interest of the community and the potential of AI.
However, it is possible that OpenAI acquired the domain name to launch some new feature in the future or to prevent scammers from taking advantage of the obscure name to use in fraud or phishing attempts.
By launching its own search tool, OpenAI will also intensify competition from other companies such as Microsoft with Copilot and Google with Gemini.
