A new study has proven once again that there is a connection between the brain and the gut. Scientists from the University of Barcelona in Spain applied non-invasive, low-intensity light to the intestines and head simultaneously. Experiments were conducted on mice. They were exposed to daily stress for 28 days and then treated with photobiomodulation (PBM).
Rodents were treated with the PBM device for 6 min per day, Monday through Friday. This continued for three weeks. As a result, cognitive symptoms caused by chronic stress were prevented or reduced in animals. They also experienced reductions in brain inflammation.
