In April, prices for business lunches in Russia’s largest cities increased by more than 7% year-on-year, up to 395 rubles. To contain the increase, restaurateurs are forced to reduce portions, substitute ingredients and give up some dishes, writes Kommersant citing 2GIS.

The most expensive business lunches took place in Novosibirsk: they increased over the year to 416 rubles, in Rostov-on-Don – to 382 rubles, in Perm – to 376 rubles, in Volgograd – to 377 rubles. In Moscow, a business lunch costs an average of 483 rubles, in St. Petersburg – 399 rubles.
Restaurateurs are looking for ways to curb rising prices: moving to farmers’ markets, changing recipes, menus, etc. For now, this allows establishments to demonstrate an increase in traffic, but in the next two years, prices in public catering may begin to grow faster, market participants say.
