Russian electric vehicle manufacturer Zetta has been involved in criminal proceedings for large-scale fraud. This was reported by the press service of the prosecutor’s office of the Central District of Togliatti, based on the results of the investigation a case was opened.

According to the department, in the period from 2017 to 2019, Zetta LLC received subsidies from the federal budget to offset costs. Its total amount is estimated at 284 million rubles.

However, Zetta did not fulfill the agreements concluded with the Ministry of Industry and Trade on time: the volume of work did not exceed 47%, the prosecutor’s office noted.

In 2022, Zetta ran into financing difficulties. Company co-founder Denis Shchurovsky said at the time that the company was “a little frozen” due to lack of investment.

Initially, in 2019 it was planned to launch serial production of inexpensive Zetta electric cars, which cost about 450 thousand rubles, and production would be located in Tolyatti.
