Some iOS 17.5 users reported on Reddit that after installing the firmware, photos that were deleted several years ago appeared on their iPhones.

Photos from 2010 appeared in one of the users of the Photo app, but they were deleted long ago. In iCloud they appear as recently downloaded.

Another user reported that intimate photos appeared on his iPhone that were taken many years ago and long since deleted. There are also a few other problems.

This doesn’t seem to be a widespread problem, but it does raise a lot of privacy concerns. All recovered pictures were not stored in the Recently Deleted folder. It is unclear why these images were not only not removed, but also why the professors themselves were not removed. Apple has not commented on the issue. [9to5Mac]
