Tinkoff decided to launch a QR code for payments following Sber and the Central Bank. It will appear in all banking terminals during 2024. This was reported to RB.RU by the company’s press service.

By scanning the QR code, a payment page will open with several payment methods: Tinkoff Pay, SBP. SberPay, payment services from other banks and the installment payment service “Shares” from Tinkoff will also be added soon. Owners of phones with iOS and Android operating systems will be able to pay for their purchases in this way.
The Central Bank started thinking about developing a unique QR code for paying for goods and services last fall. Now Sber and the regulator are finding out whether it is necessary to create it in the Russian Federation: on the one hand, this will allow clients not to get confused at the checkout, but on the other hand, it can reduce the desire of banks. invest in innovation.
According to experts interviewed by RBC, Tinkoff’s decision is purely commercial in nature: demand for this technology increased after Apple Pay and Google Pay stopped working in Russia.
The bank itself says that it has created a framework through which different payment methods can be accessed offline and, in the future, credit institutions will be able to establish partnerships that will ensure the creation of a single payment QR code.
