MyOffice founder Dmitry Komissarov invested in the development of BIOS solutions

BIOS – basic input/output system, or “basic input/output system,” is a software and hardware complex that loads the operating system and tests the hardware when the computer is turned on.

Since the early 2000s, the BIOS has been gradually replaced by the similar UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface), but the term BIOS is still used as a generic name for the system responsible for the initial boot of the computer.

Dmitry Komissarov claims that the product is already being tested with one of the hardware manufacturers. It will be available to other participants this fall, he said.

Now in Russia, Numatech, RDW and others are also developing BIOS, but there are no proper assessments of the Russian market for such developers. There may be many of them in the national software registry, but there are four real players, Komissarov believes.

From 2025, critical information infrastructure (CII) objects owned, for example, by telecommunications operators, government agencies and transport infrastructure operators, will have to run exclusively on Russian software. The list of objects will be approved by the government; The BIOS must also be developed in the country, so the market for this type of system is quite large, says an interlocutor among software developers.
