Dell customer data was recently offered for sale on the site, prompting the company to issue a warning to affected users. Additionally, Europol confirmed that a hack had occurred, including on BreachForums, which led to the disclosure of some of its data. Visitors to the site on Wednesday were greeted with a takedown notice from the FBI and the U.S. Department of Justice.

In the agency’s statement, it was emphasized that BreachForums operates as a marketplace for cybercriminals to trade illegal services and data. This is the site’s second closure in a year, following the arrest of the site’s alleged founder, Conor Brian Fitzpatrick, in June last year.

Despite the closure in June, the forum has been revived under new leadership and with new domains. The FBI also seized official BreachForums Telegram channels, but it remains unclear how this was done.

Government access to BreachForums’ internal data could lead to further prosecution of the site’s users.
