According to Vladimir Khamedov, associate professor of the Department of Ecology and Environmental Management, the aim of the center is to provide information products and services aimed at solving applied problems and educational programs. This includes event data, process changes and other geographic information.

The center is planned to process, analyze and interpret heterogeneous spatial data such as satellite images and diagrams. Roscosmos initiated the formation of this center, which will be one of the first in Russia.
