AUREK will create a public inspection to monitor the markets

“The other day a hearing on the senator’s bill on markets was held in the Russian Public Chamber. During the hearings it was noted that in Russia a new form of public control has already de facto emerged: control over the aggregators that dominate the relevant markets,” the association said in a statement.

AUREK highlighted that appeals from citizens, small businesses and the self-employed to public organizations, government agencies and the Public Chamber “number in the hundreds” every month.

In this sense, the association considers, it is necessary to ensure the coordination of actions, guarantee transparency in the consideration of these resources and the adoption of judicial decisions on them.

The AUREK Council decided to create a public control group on the basis of the association. The tasks of the new body will include:

• work with appeals from citizens and organizations, summarize them, redirect them to government bodies in the position of AUREK experts;
• public examination of the operating conditions of small and medium-sized businesses and the self-employed in their work with digital platforms;
• public monitoring of the actions of executive authorities in such appeals;
• hold public debates and public hearings;
• other forms of public control that are provided for by law.

AUREC invites public organizations, unions and associations related to activities in the field of electronic commerce to work together in this area.

The Association Council will soon develop and approve a regulation that will define the powers of regional public inspectors.

Previously, AUREK analyzed Wildberries’ interaction with sellers and concluded that the marketplace met only part of the FAS requirements that the antitrust authority issued in April.
