The company announced on Tuesday (28) that Opera has joined forces with Google and will now have a native integration with Gemini. Traditionally supported by Opera’s language models, the Aria virtual assistant will now be powered by models that make up Google’s artificial intelligence.

The transition from one model to another will happen invisibly and automatically: Aria evaluates which AI to use based on the user’s request and chooses the one that best meets the request.

“In the latest AI Feature Release, the Opera One browser gains access to Google Cloud’s Gemini models in browser AI, as well as rendering and text-to-speech capabilities, thanks to deeper collaboration between the companies and the integration of Google’s top-tier technologies.” outclass models,” explains Opera.

Experimental fusion between Aria and Gemini

The merger between Aria and Gemini is not the first collaboration between the companies on artificial intelligence. At the beginning of the month, Opera started testing rendering images from text, and the tool uses Google’s Imagen 2 model.

According to Opera, the integration with Gemini will provide better performance for the chatbot, in addition to providing the chatbot with up-to-date information and an extremely deep database.

For now, the combination of Aria and Gemini is in a trial period, with a test version of the browser available to testers at Opera One Developer. There are no predictions regarding the exact launch of the new product.
